Facing Your Fears With God's Grace

“You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face.  You are able to say to yourself, ‘I lived through this horror.  I can take the next thing that comes along.’ You must do the thing you think you cannot do.” -Eleanor Roosevelt

Fear is completely natural.  It serves a purpose.  It’s there to warn us when we’re facing something that could harm us.

While listening to our fears might be a smart choice, when we operate from a place of self-sufficiency.

But, if we follow Christ, we understand that we are called to something more.

What Makes the Bible Trustworthy?

How do we know the Bible is true?  How can we place our trust in the scriptures as God’s Word?  This is a deep topic that is far too complex to address adequately in a short blog post.  There are many ways that we are given evidence that the Bible is more than just another book, and that it’s source which comes from divine inspiration.

Trusting Jesus Leads to Joy

What is your definition of joy?  There’s one thing I know for sure; I want more of it.  My definition of joy?  That has been a bit harder for me to pin down.

The Bible has a lot to say about joy.  The more I study the Word, the more I realize that joy is different than happiness.  It’s a settled assurance, a quiet confidence, and a choice to trust God, no matter the circumstance.  (Romans 15:13)

5 Habits of Joyful People

Last year I set out to learn all I could about trusting Jesus.  Trust was my word of the year.  This year, the word joy, is what God seemed to place on my heart.  Initially, my reaction to the word, joy, was…great; this year is going to be all about fun!  And maybe it will be.   But that’s not what joy is all about.

The Great Unknown, Where Feet May Fail

Unknowns make me uncomfortable, but they’re a part of life, and learning to accept that I can’t control and plan everything that happens to me or to those I love is how I'm learning to trust in Jesus.  I rest in the knowledge of Romans 8:28, which says,

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

How We Can Pay Attention to God's Faithfulness

Yesterday, Trent was telling me how sad he was because he missed his friends in Wenatchee.  I pointed out that he had a lot of friends at school, but he said that none of them were friends that he "could just call up".  My heart ached for him, so I prayed a little prayer.  One hour later, there was a knock on the door, and an invitation for a play date was extended by one of our neighbors.  Today, he was cruising around the neighborhood with these two sweet boys while I had a cup of coffee and a chat with their grandma.

10 Best Books on Trusting God For Teens

A while ago, I compiled a list of my favorite books on trusting God.  That list had titles that dealt mostly with trusting God through hard times and letting go of anxiety- issues that I have personally dealt with, recently. I have another list of favorite books about trusting God for you today.  This new list of ten books is for teens.  I have chosen titles that do an excellent job of speaking to where I have seen many Christian teens are in their faith journey.
