The Shepherd's Treasure: Lost Sheep {Giveaway and Review}

The Shepherd's Treasure: Lost Sheep {Giveaway and Review} — Dawn Klinge | Easter for kids | teaching children about the Lost Sheep in the Bible | learning tool for teaching about Easter | #easter

I have a great giveaway I’m excited to offer! I recently had the pleasure of receiving a wonderful gift set called The Shepherd’s Treasure: The Lost Sheep. It’s designed to teach children about the true meaning of Easter and how Jesus shows his love for us. It does this in a winsome and fun way.

You may have already seen the popular original gift set called Shepherd’s Treasure that’s based around the Christmas story. It’s an alternative to “Elf on the Shelf”. The Lost Sheep is similar in the way that it begins with a book and a doll to create excitement, and it continues with a daily verse hunt and a letter to your child from your sheep in the days leading up to Easter. Along the way, your child is searching for the sheep (who doesn’t appear until Easter).

There are daily suggestions for fun activities that enhance your child’s learning experience and a photo sheet to give ideas on how to set out your little scenes and make everything easy. Everything suggested was simple and the props were easy to find around the house. I had a lot of fun setting out a few sample scenes for the pictures in this post!

The Lost Sheep set comes with a lovingly illustrated hardback book, the verse/activity cards, the stuffed donkey, and the stuffed sheep. The shepherd doll comes with the Christmas set only. I would suggest, either buying the Christmas set, too, so you can have the doll, or just substituting the shepherd doll with another doll of your choice that you can make look like a shepherd. However, the original doll is adorable and matches the illustrations in the book. He’s also pose-able, which is nice.

Numerous times in Scripture, the people of God are referred to as sheep and Jesus, the Good Shepherd. The story of the shepherd who leaves the 99 to find the lost sheep, is a beautiful parable that illustrates how much we are loved and what Jesus did for us. Luke 15:1-7 (NIV) is where it can be found. It says,

“Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’ I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.”

I think this gift set is a wonderful way to teach this story to children. I’ve always loved thinking about how Jesus is our good shepherd. I’ve written about that HERE.

Live the Light 5 minute devotionals for teen girls by Melanie Redd | #teendevotional

And now, a special BONUS giveaway! This one is for those of you who have a special teen-age girl in your life. My friend, Melanie Redd has written a 5-Minute daily devotional for teen girls titled, Live in Light. It’s available for pre-order now. Her publisher has offered to send a paperback copy, direct, to one of you.

Melanie's wisdom and practical application of scripture in this devotional is a delightful, easy-to-read, offering of daily encouragement, relatable stories, and insightful reflections that invited me to look at God's Word and apply it to my daily life. As someone who has lived through my own teen-age years, and as a mother to a young-adult daughter, I feel this book addresses many of the relevant topics important to girls.

I will run this GIVEAWAY alongside the other, so the same directions apply- just leave a comment before next Wednesday on this post, and specify that you want the teen devotional.

***Giveaway is now closed***

Congratulations to Brittany, who won the Shepherd’s Treasure, and Crystal (entered via newsletter response), who won the Live in Light devotional!
