10 Favorite Quotes on Grace
Grace. Unmerited favor from God, all because of Jesus Christ. Grace is a word I love to think about. While I believe the Bible is the first and best place to look at when it comes to the topic of grace, I also love to collect quotes from wise people who have been inspired by the Word of God. I've combined some of my favorite quotes on the topic of grace with some photos I took when I was in Hawaii on the Big Island. Being surrounded by God’s beauty in nature, I was in awe of God’s amazing grace, so it seemed fitting to pair the photos I took with these quotes. I hope you enjoy them! ”A man can no more take in a supply of grace for the future than he can eat enough today to last him for the next 6 months, nor can he inhale sufficient air into his lungs with one breath to sustain life for a week to come. We are permitted to draw upon God's store of grace from day to day as we need it."
- Dwight L. Moody
"I am graven on the palms of His hands. I am never out of His mind. All my knowledge of Him depends on His sustained initiative in knowing me. I know Him, because He first knew me, and continues to know me. He knows me as a friend, One who loves me; and there is no moment when His eye is off me, or His attention distracted for me, and no moment, therefore, when His care falters."
- J.I. Packer
Grace puts its hand on the boasting mouth, and shuts it once for all. - Charles Spurgeon
"Grace does not depend on what we have done for God but rather what God has done for us. Ask people what they must do to get to heaven and most reply, "Be good." Jesus' stories contradict that answer. All we must do is cry, "Help!""
- Philip Yancey
"Grace comes into the soul, as the morning sun into the world; first a dawning; then a light; and at last the sun in his full and excellent brightness."
- Thomas Adams
"Your worst days are never so bad that you are beyond the reach of God's grace. And your best days are never so good that you are beyond the need of God's grace."
- Jerry Bridges
”All the grace contained in [the Bible] is owing to Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior; and, unless we consent to Him as our Lord we cannot expect any benefit by Him as our Savior."
- Matthew Henry
"Certainly we should be very active in seeking God, and Jesus himself called us to 'ask, seek, knock' in order to find him. Yet those who enter a relationship with God inevitably look back and recognize that God's grace had sought them out, breaking them open to new realities."
- Tim Keller
"Through many dangers, toils and snares, I have already come; 'Tis grace has brought me safe thus far and grace will lead me home."
